There is a big Polish community in Northwich, Cheshire. Try visiting the Polish Club in Northwich as there should be plenty of people there with links to Delamere camp. Our Lady Czestochowa RC Church telephone: 01606 42877 London Rd, Northwich. CW9 8AT.

Hi everyone, first it was called Delamere park camp,i moved there when i was four years old in 1951,at the time we lived in Chester with my mothers family,my father was in the polish army, but with the house being over crowded some how we ended up at delamere park we lived there for eight years untill we were allocated a council property in a village called Weaverham. It was not just for polish people we had english aswell,it was a great time for me lots of friends, always out playing never a dull moment. We had a picture house, polish shop selling polish sausage beautifull, post office, mobile shop which was run by Smiths at Cuddington a couple of mile up the road,we had a school bus, plus a polish barber shop which was the short back and sides thats all he new i think, plus a polish club and a doctors surgery open a couple of hours per day monday till friday, happy days.

Re: Delamere Camp. A book is to be published in June/July entitled "The story of Delamere House & Delamere Park". We have spent several years pulling all the strands together and the information surrounding the Polish camp years is fascinating. The photographs of the Polish processions, the huts, the church etc etc are superb. It will be hardback, £15-£16. It will be a limited edition and anyone wishing to reserve a copy should send name and address to me: editor@cc-publishing.co.uk. Thanks Mark Bevan

Delamere Park Camp: We have published a book containing many photographs of Delamere Park Camp (Northwich). It is titled: The Story of Delamere House & Delamere Park. You can order a copy by visiting the publisher's website, www.cc-publishing.co.uk which also includes a number of additional photographs of the camp between 1945 and the early 1960s. See who you can recognise?

Just joined the forum. My family lived in Delamere Park Camp. We lived in Central Drive or Road? Our neighbours was Mr & Mrs Polikowski who were Mrs Urbanski's parents. It was our own "Little Poland" on the Camp. We had everything there on site. Church, Theatre/Hall, Shop, Surgery etc. The Doctor was Polish too and as I recall her name was Dr Wengzenowska? (someone will correct the spelling!)I have lots of memories about Delamere Park. School was St Wilfreds in Northwich and i remember my first day at school hardly able to speak English! It would be good to hear from other Delamere Park folk on here............

Hello Everyone, I have just discovered this site. I have visited it in the past with my wife. She was known as Elzbieta Kulesza, along with her brother Kris, and sister Gosia. The were there 1949 - 1958 and moved to Bradford Yorkshire. We are still in touch with a few families that were on the camp such as the Lipka and Wieczerzak families. Ken Phoenix

Jan 13, 2006 at 17:08:20 Mike Paker, Cheshire UKDoes anyone have any information of Camp Delamere in Cheshire? I lived in Delamere camp when i was about 4/5 years old. We are not Polish, and I have no idea why we moved there (to young) other than we needed somewhere to live. My memories are few. Just recall catching a school bus to Sandiway primary, the shop, which if I'm right was called Hooleys. The daughter many years later married a friend of mine. I to would love to see some old photographs if any one has any?
