I lived in one of the fowlmere camps from about 1950/1 to 1956. There were 4 sites in the village consisting of pre-fabs to corrugated "beczki". I remember many people who lived there - most of them moved to the area we moved yo in Hertfordshire. Please get in touch for further info.

I have just noticed your query regarding the name Czarnecki. I know that a Jan Czarnecki from Peterborough played football for a Polish team (Cracovia) based in Melton Mowbray in the 1980-ies.

Hello
I am a new member here and am researching my father's (Aleksander Kronda) connections with the PRC.
I note that the replies here were a while ago, however I am looking into researching more about my father's time in the hostels and I note from his Certificate of Registration that he arrived in the UK in June 1946 and was at that time residing at Fowlmere, possibly until July or August 1948
I know nothing more than he was there! So am just wondering if by any chance you managed to discover any information about the camp?
Kind regards.
