I moved to Hazlemere when I was 2 in 1950 and lived there until our family was rehoused in 1955. I have vivid memories of my childhood at the camp which to young boys was a marvellous adventure playground. I would love to be able to get in contact with some of the families that I knew there such as Paszkiewicz, Inglot, Gąska, Sidor, Komuniewski, and any information or photographs that anyone can give me about the camp would be most appreciated.

I am surprised and very happy to of found this site, a lot of familiar names mentioned here, there was also a family called Janczura that were relocated to Bourne end, and also a family called Switon that were billeted by the hill.A few families were relocated to new build council houses in Ring road, a just reward for the Polish men and women that served during the war, I do remember Inglot,Lada, kownacki, one polish gentleman that I cannot remember his name and Mr and Mrs Bulka and Ewa at number 64 ring road and of course Kapitan Cebrowski and wife that lived in a bungalow in Rugwood road,I have for a very long time intended to visit the camp though it is a housing estate now, I have memories of the camp even though I was only three or four years old at the time, I seem to remember a large white building at the top of the lane,I have no idea to this day what the building was about but,I am glad to of found this site and will have a good walkabout around that housing estate, I'm certain that I can make some sort of sense of how things were,I would love to hear more, best wishes to all of you.

Hi Rick my mother spent her first 5 years in Hazlemere camp with my grandparents before immigrating to Canada. She remembers the boat ride to Canada and playing with children. Where are you located now? Does anyone know if weddings occurred at the camp between 1947-1951?
