Hi I have today got a copy of Teodors alien registration cards and it states he was born at Radno? Poland. I can't find this name anywhere which leads me to believe it is a spelling error. Does anyone have any ideas of what it is most likely to be. Also it says that he was at Hardwick Hall I wonder does anyone have any information on this camp or where I could find some. Many thanks Diane

Hi Diane Have been following your forum posts on Geneteka Geneolodzy, re photos, some good help there for you. I think you could be right about Teodors birth place being spelt wrong. Maybe it could be Rudno, the "a" could be the mistake. Coincidence---- I did a little research on some Castle Ruins in a place called Rudno. It was called Tenczyn Castle in the district of Krakow. I have got an old family photo taken early 1930s, relatives are standing in the ruins of a huge old castle. Eventually it turned out to be Castle Kastellaun in The Hunsruuck, Germany. Please see the attached link re Rudno villages in Poland. There are lots---about 20 . If you have the name of the district it would help. Best of luck with it though!!! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rudno,_Lesser_Poland_Voivodeship Best wishes Arnes

Hi Arnes Thank you very much for the link I appreciate your help. I am hoping that when the war records come back that the correct birthplace will be on them I hope that the bits of Polish I have been putting up on Geneteka Geneolodzy can be understood It is quite a puzzle I have got, I thought there were two brothers now it turns out there are 4 altogether!! the area he lived may be different than first thought, so what bit of info I have I will have to look at again and have a rethink. Would you know how to find out about any businesses in Poland (tailoring)in the 30's? when I get the correct place of course. Thank you again Diane

Hi Diane
Now you know where to carry on your research. Are you going to look through church records for Ratno? The LDS ( mormons ) have indexing for Wolyn, Ratno Kowel. Unfortunately it seems there are only records from 1827 - 1863 ( Catholic ). I have done lots of research with the LDS finding my ancestors. It is very time consuming, because most of the scripts are hand written by the parish priests, deciphering them takes the time--- but is most rewarding when you find names you are researching. Best of luck if do.
Re Belford Hall----a fair bit of info online when you google it.
Let me know how you get on with things.
Best wishes Arnes
