First time poster here so sorry if I've missed any reference to Bedhampton Camp. My father, Jan Szyszlo (or Szyszło) served in the Polish Army but was originally born in Belarus on 14th October 1914. His papers mention that he arrived at Bedhampton Camp on 3rd June 1948 and his last residence prior to arrival in UK is listed as Ablach, Sigmaringen, Germany. I'm hoping that someone may be able to help with info regarding that camp and potentially how he would have got from Germany to the UK

Hi Stephan There is some reference to the camp on the web. www.bbc.co.uk/history/ww2peopleswar/stories/84/a2404784.shtmlIt was built by the City of Portsmouth for bombed-out civilians, three other naval camps built in the same period. After the war the Polish army were shipped to the UK by the British authorities.
