I’m looking for informations about sister of my grandfather (Bronislaw Gawdzik) – Feliksa Bura (Gawdzik) and her daughters Bronislawa and Boguslawa Bura and son Witold Bura. Feliksa Bura was born in Chruslanki Jozefowskie in Poland. I know she lived with her daughters in Koja CAMP in Uganda (Africa). Feliksa Bura with daughters is on passenger list of CARNARVON CASTLE ship (Sailed from DURBAN and MOMBASA arriving on the 28th of June 1948 in SOUTHAMPTON with over 1000 Polish Displaced women, children and the elderly and were assigned to DAGLINGWORTH CAMP in Gloucestershire). Passenger list: 265 BURA Feliksa 50 (age) Housekeeper , 266 BURA Bronisława 18 (age) Dressmaker, 267 BURA Bogusława 16 (age) Student. I know that Boguslawa and Bronislawa, they were in the Polish Military Hospital No.4 on holiday ("urlop"). Feliksa Bura got married there but I don’t know surname of her new husband. Thank you in advance for your help. Grzegorz Gawdzik It's a link to photo: www.fotosik.pl/pokaz_obrazek/0170a064ae9c60fa.htmlwww.fotosik.pl/pokaz_obrazek/ed513dd49e80926f.html

I'm looking for information about my father, Wladyslaw Stankowski, where he is, and if he is still alive or not. We lived at Daglingworth Hostel from October 1947 for about nine years. My parents separated quite early on and the last time I saw my father very briefly I think it was 1964. He would be 88 now, and may have lived in Swindon for some time. My friend and I are also having difficulty in finding out how our families were transported from Germany to England (Harwich) in 1947. Thanking you in anticipation. Helena (Halina)

My mother-in-law, Leokadia Ralcewicz, sadly passed away on 29th September 2010, aged 81.
She was passenger 930 on the Carnarvon Castle which arrived in Southampton on the 28th June 1948.
She trained in nursing and had a long, happy and successful career in the National Health Service after arriving in North Staffordshire in 1952.
She has two elder brothers Joe and Stan who are still alive and living in Canada.
Rest in peace mum. x

Thank you Arnes for your generous imput. We live in Australia and so a family member in England had some time ago found the same information for me. I have been looking into this again because the birth date that I have doesn't match with the date on the death record. Off course people change their age for all sorts of reasons but 7 years seems a lot to me. I will take the plunge and enrol with ancestry for other family info. Thank you once again Arnes. Helena.

Poszukuje informacji o siostrze mojego dziadka Feliksie Bura z domu Gawdzik urodzonej 18 wrzesnia 1899 roku w Chruslankach (lubelskie, Polska). Podczas II wojny swiatowej wraz z rodziną została deportowana z miejscowosci Orlopol (Wydumka) do obwodu molotowskiego w ZSRR. Po amnestii z roku 1941 roku wraz z Armią Andersa i cała rodziną przebyła drogę aż do obozu uchodźców Koja w Ugandzie. 28 czerwca 1948 roku statkiem CARNARVON CASTLE dotarła do Wielkiej Brytanii do obozu w Daglingworth. Prowadzę poszukiwania genealogiczne rodziny i proszę o jakiekolwiek informacje o Feliksie i jej rodzinie. Życie Feliksy i jej rodziny, która przeszła przez deportację, obozy i osiadła w Wielkiej Brytanii są na tyle ważne dla mnie, że nie mogę pozwolić by odeszła w zapomnienie. Poniżej zdjęcia Feliksy, jej syna Witolda z żoną i dziećmi. www.fotosik.pl/pokaz_obrazek/19d32774cc12cc4b.htmlDziękuję. Grzegorz Gawdzik
