Not sure if im in the right place here. Doing some genealogy research on my wife's late grandpa who was in the Polish Army . We understand at the end of WW2 he possibly sailed out of Italy and ended up at the Resettlement Camp at Wharles , Kirkham , Preston Lancashire . His name was Wlodzimierz Wicher b 1916 . He married an English lady and lived in Preston until sadly passed away in 1986.
Wondering if there were separate Resettlement camps for civilians and military . An old photograph of him suggests from the Insignia he was part of the 2nd Polish Army Corps. I have applied to the MOD for details of his Army records but am conscious these can take 6 months to arrive .
From reading the posts on this site it appears to be predominantly relate to civilians who located to the UK after WW2. Any other site members any experience of tracing military family members
Regards Mick
