Hello - I'm new to this site, hoping to find some information about my family. I know from thier Allied Expeditionary Force Displaced Persons Registration Record they were held in a displaced persons camp, possibly in or near Dusseldorf, Germany (my late father-in-law was born 8/7/46 in Galkhausen - a district of Lagenfeld, Rheinland) and they came to England in October or November 1947 - to somewhere near Stoke-on-Trent. Their names were Bazyli and Eugenia Debkow (possibly Demkiv) and their children, Henrik and Michal (Michael). Eugenia might well have been pregnant again. Bazyli originally came from L'Viv (L'vov) in Ukraine and Eugenia (maiden name Dobinska) came from Warsaw in Poland. I also know they eventually moved to Melksham in Wiltshire but that's about it. Bazyli, Eugenia and Michal (my wife, Michelle's father) have sadly all passed away and anyway, they would never talk about their war and post-war expereinces. Does anyone know anything about this family, or indeed about the thousands of people who came over here from Dusseldorf? Where did they sail from and to? Any help would be most gratefully received.

I must apologize, but is very difficult to undestend my mom's handwriting. I am trying to trace residents of the Blackshaw Moor Camp, near Leek, Staffs. The person/family name is Stynyk, Andrzej, or Hynyk? ... also there is a Mariam Demianowicz does anyone recognise these names? Any assistance is greatly appriciated.
